Coronado is Spanish for "the crowned one", but it has also been called The Tent City because of all the tourists’ tents that once lined Coronado Beach. Coronado’s main landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, which has been around since 1888. It is considered one of the world’s top resorts, and has been used for movies and state dinners. South of the Coronado village lies a real estate treasure, the Coronado Cays. These homes sit right on the water with their own private docks.
